Hello Everyone,
With the disaster of Haiti present and the interviews of inspirational leaders that I have heard in the past few weeks my mind has been racing with ideas. I have always been a person with the drive to lead and to make a difference, yet I sit here at 22 with all of my ideas only circulating in my head. Well, I think the signs have been clear and I finally need to open the door and step out into the world. As I am graduating from university I can no longer use the excuse that I don't have the time. Money has always seemed to be an obstical, but again, if your dreams are big enough it's something also easily overcome. So what is the point of this blog? I want to start placing the stepping stones of my goals and let the world give me thier input. Anybody who has heard of or read the "Me to We" slogan from the popular Free the Children organization knows that it's about getting together to make a difference, instead of thinking of only ourselves and our individual lives. It may be a slow start to become recognized, but with the 6 degrees of separation I have confidence that a multitude of ideas can be brought together right here on the internet to strive to change the world. I think that the problem I (and many other people in the world) have is that we have so many ideas that we feel overwhelmed. There seems to be so many issues to be solved that it's hard to pick just one.
Smile to Grow is something I just came up with as the theme for this blog. I thought it was appropriate because in order to make a difference, you have to be positive and outgoing - all of which are much easier with a smile. It has helped me get along with my life, and I think that even smiling at a passing stranger can make the world of a difference. You never know how you've influenced somebody's life after they have passed you by, but we are all connected.
