31 days of lent to go

Well I made it past Tuesday and Wednesday without giving in. I am still disappointed in myself for giving into the pressure of ice cream.. it was less than a week and I gave in! I don't even eat ice cream normally! ah.. oh well, this is for me after all and one slip up doesn't mean I can't do it. Relapse is part of the steps to recovery from addiction anyway right? Yesterday was tough, we went to our local hockey game and I haven't been in a long time! I made a nice filling pasta dinner to try and get rid of the want to buy anything at the game but I still drooled when I walked past the mini donuts and the cotton candy. I even won a free package of chocolate chip goldfish and don't know what to do with them! I think I'll save them for a reward for when I'm done. I have given in to a bit of splenda though. Giving up coffee is simply too hard right now so I put a teaspoon of splenda in my coffee yesterday and today. Lent on vacation is not easy! I thought it would be easier being with my health-nut mother but I forgot about my sweet tooth father and boyfriend. Tomorrow morning I have plans to go to tim hortons too. We will see how easy it is not to order my regular "steeped tea with one cream and one sugar".. I tried it with just the cream on the drive to my parents place and it just wasn't the same. I guess I'll stick to herbal tea. I actually like earl grey black as well so I've been having more of that as well but my mom doesn't keep much around since she doesn't drink it. I also found out the bride-to-be is also on lent for her bachelorette so I may not cheat that day too!

One thing I have learned about myself since I decided to do this is that I still eat unhealthy chips and greasy food to try and fix the cravings that I'm missing. I always thought I was a healthy person.. and generally I suppose I am compared to most, but is it good giving up sugar if I'm just replacing it with artificial sweeteners and  chips? Perhaps when school starts I will cut out those as well. I will need to go shopping.. and make sure I bring a lunch every day.. it's manageable.
