I didn't realize how long it has been since I've written in here. I'm not even sure if anybody reads these posts anymore but they entertain me and help me procrastinate from studying.. which evidently I'm very good at. I made it through lent with just a few cheat days - of course I couldn't plan a Bachelorette and attend without sugar or alcohol! I'm still undecided about the meat thing.. I used to be so strict, so diligent.. but now that I've tasted it again it's hard to fully give up the chicken. I had a piece at my friend's wedding and will eat meat in Greece but after that I think I'll go back to being a vegetarian. At least eating meat that I believe was treated well and isn't filled with hormones. It's definitely a cheaper way to live!
On other news, as my title informs, I am getting closer and closer to finally reaching my dream destination. My teenage self would be proud, yet disappointed that I'm only spending a fraction of a time there and not doing the thing I always dreamed to do in Greece - go para-sailing I know know that there are other days for that though and that adventure can be done somewhere else and I will be just as happy. Perhaps when I am in Australia I'll fit it in. I am going to this place with the mind-set that I'm not going to see it all so I will enjoy whatever it is I see. Even if I was just in Athens, I think I would be satisfied. Of course, we are not just going to be in Athens and I'm hoping that I will get a little bit of a tan.. at least reminded that it's the end of April, unlike the weather here where I was splattered with icy snow and gusty winds that nearly slammed my car door in my face when I tried to get out this evening. Ah, yes, no matter what the weather I will enjoy my time in Europe, try not to think of the money I'm spending (which I don't actually have) and especially enjoy the reunion with my love after over a month apart. It has been quite lonely in my king size bed.
I must say I am so grateful for all of the things I have done, my understanding boss for continuing to give me time off, and for living in a country with clean water and access to food and health care. I just spent a week at home, celebrating a beautiful wedding, visiting my family and going golfing with my "mother in-law". Technically she isn't that, but I figure if I've been with her son for 3 1/2 years it's close enough!
Soon I will be back in school for the final push, gaining skills and practicing like a "real" nurse. I don't know where I will be yet, but I'm not going to worry about that either. Just study for my exam that's Tuesday, hang out with my friends during the night and catch a plane early the next morning. Then I'm back with one day to get over the jet lag, a full week of work and school, another wedding the following weekend, and finishing the last ever semester or theoretical class-work. Anybody that is keeping up, I'll continue to post on here daily (if I can) while in Greece. Hopefully with pictures.
Until then
