I can hardly believe that it's February 1. January flew by in a flash and I hope that every other month I can continue to feel motivated. I have already begun to feel the lull. To be dragged back into the old life of days off spent sitting on the couch, sipping tea, browsing the net aimlessly, and looking at a messy apartment wishing it would magically become clean with little effort. I am trying to resist it though, and at least tick off 2 things on my "to-do" list every day. Not to mention exercise.
I made it through TV-free month and so what did we do yesterday to celebrate? Well.. first I went to work at 6:30pm to begin what I thought would be a long and tiring night shift...only to realize that I wasn't supposed to be at work that day and had written it wrong in my calendar. So, with my tim hortons tea, I came back home to the surprise of my fiance. Then, of course, we watched a long waited episode of Big Bang Theory.

So, with my tim hortons tea, I came back home to the surprise of my fiance. Then, of course, we watched a long waited episode of Big Bang Theory.

we were tempted to fall back into old patterns and watch 2 episodes in a row, but decided we better not get back into that trap and instead I gave my parents a much needed phone call.
I must confess however, I was eager to watch the last episode of season 7 of Grey's Anatomy during the day BEFORE we watched Big Bang theory (yeah, I'm slowly catching up to the rest of the world).. so technically I watched 2 episodes that day. I then watch another episode today but was determined not to just sit on the couch, so I did it while cutting up vegetables for a slow-cooker stew. That doesn't count as wasting time watching TV then does it?
So.. back into watching TV less this month I have to come up with a new challenge - I will resist buying fast food, coffee, or tea. This has been a compensation for TV watching in January I think as I went over what I normally budget for this kind of thing. I guess I did buy a tim hortons tea before heading to my fake shift as mentioned above, but I am not going to say "absolutely none" as I have in the past, because then I feel I end up buying double the following month. I will, however, stick to a budget of $20 for the ENTIRE month. So far, I'm down $1.90.
Another challenge is to continue the exercising that I've been doing last month and continue to improve on my healthy eating habits. I can definitely feel my glutes and thighs from yesterday's workout video though so today it's cardio and abs!

I'll keep updating my progress, including before and after pictures, of the challenges to the new me.
